Types of SOFWERX Events

SOFWERX events are utilized as mechanisms to solve challenging Warfighter problems. We leverage our ecosystem to collaborate and innovate for Special Operations Forces.

Assessment Event (AE)

Innovative minds submit cutting-edge solutions to challenges nominated by Warfighters. After USSOCOM reviews submissions, selected participants will have the opportunity to present and/or demonstrate their capability in a one-on-one session with Government Stakeholders. If the USSOCOM evaluation panel favorably evaluates a solution brief, negotiations for a follow-on award may immediately begin.

Collaboration Event (CE)

Industry, Academia, and National Laboratories participate in design thinking sessions to ideate on the art-of-the-possible with Subject Matter Experts and Government Stakeholders. Outcomes from a CE shape future efforts, projects, and events.

Collider

A multi-phased, competitive opportunity to present new, novel or provocative solutions to Government Stakeholders in a one-on-one environment that can lead to a near-term award.

A competitive opportunity focused on bringing together the most disruptive and game-changing technologies/capabilities for Government Stakeholder review/selection that can lead to a near-term award.

Expositions

SOFWERX hosts a booth at external events to conduct outreach by raising awareness of the SOFWERX mission and scout for technology capabilities that could be of interest to USSOCOM. SOFWERX informs event attendees about how to best engage with USSOCOM via the SOFWERX platform and encourages them to join the SOFWERX ecosystem.

Feasibility Study (FS)

A preliminary investigation into the potential benefits associated with undertaking a specific activity or project. The main purpose of such a study is to consider all factors associated with the project and determine if the investment of time and other resources will yield a desirable result.

Hackathon (HT)

A competitive, short-fused activity for participants to work in groups on current Warfighter challenges. The most innovative solutions providers can win cash prizes.

SOFWERX collaborates with schools and organizations to introduce students to the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

TEAMWERX (TW)

Warfighter challenges are posted on www.teamwerx.org, and the teamwerx ecosystem is allocated approximately two months to submit innovative solutions to those challenges. USSOCOM subsequently reviews submissions and selects winners to receive cash prizes. (Length of challenges and award amounts vary)

A specified period of performance in which Industry, Academia and National Laboratory partners develop and modify their technology based on Government and Warfighter recommendations.
